Murmuration
2025
Murmuration is a concert that uses the performance venue as an instrument, employing an aesthetic based on subtle, even imperceptible sounds, encouraging the audience to listen closely and engage attentively with their surroundings. The installation consists of 32 identical striking objects that directly set the space in vibration.
Each object consists of an LED bulb and a striker that strikes the wall to which the object is attached. The objects strike the walls, ceiling, and architectural elements, briefly illuminating them at the moment of impact. Each sound is carefully selected during a period of exploration of the spaces, seeking to subtly highlight the site and its hidden sonic potential. The sounds chosen are intentionally subtle. The ensemble produces delicate clusters, constellations of faint noises running along the walls. The sound experience is enhanced by the darkness, where each sound is accompanied by a white light. The 32 sounds extracted from the site are therefore all different, varying according to the materials, their hardness, their depth, their history… This installation thus comes into its own when transposed to various sites with atypical architecture and interesting acoustics.
